DIAMONDBACK BIKE December 27, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bike is a great value and we are pleased with the very fast delivery. Two points worth considering however - 1. the tires have Presta Valves and they should enclose the adapter that is needed to inflate them. 2.They should enclose an assembly manual. If someone has never worked on a bike, good luck. All in all I am very pleased.
Beautiful bike with a reasonable price January 30, 2010 D. Lee (Greenville, SC USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the first time to buy a bike from online store.
So, I have to figure out how to assemble the bike out of the box.
But after watching a youtube video, it was not that hard and it basically helped me tune my Cannondale bike that I bought almost 10 years ago.
Compared to my Cannondale F300, the entry level MTB, the Clarity components are a bit lower end.
Gear shifting is not as smooth as F300 but it is fine enough.
I spent a lot of time to tune shifting and it is still not 100% satisfactory.
And the wheel is disappointing since it is very slightly out of rotating plane which could possible rub the brake pad.(Thankfully, I was able to adjust the pad so not to rub each other)
Overall, the bike is very beautiful. The decal is sophisticated and the frame looks sturdy.
I like the handle grip. Its contour is so nice to put my hands on.
The seat is not a gel type but comfortable.
I have to give 5 stars even with not so satisfying things because the price is so right when on sale.
Love this bike! June 18, 2010 For the price, this is really a great bike. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing but also very comfortable. The hand grips fit my hands very well and the seat is comfortable. I thought for sure I would have to replace the seat but I have been pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it is. I am not an avid biker and bought this bike for pleasure/exercise purposes. I am very happy with it. I do have trouble with the tires keeping air and they are also somewhat difficult to put air into (this could be user error...) but that would be my only complaint. It is a very comfortable ride on the sidewalks/pavement.
Awesome bike July 9, 2010 I thought I'll get a bike for fun since it was my 3rd year in college. This is my first road bike and I haven't rode a bicycle since elementary school on a department store mountain bike. Even though the bike does not come with building instructions (I'm guessing because they don't want everyone to just throw it together carelessly and then just ride it), its more than easy enough to search online for them. I recommend to not rush it and take your time if you are new to building bikes, it's nothing like putting together furniture. All the parts might be in the right place but there are seemingly small things to take note of (such as adjusting the derailer, brakes, etc). You can take the giant box it comes in to a shop to build, but if you have lots of patience, learning everything about the bike really brings up your attachment to your bike. It rides smooth, fast, the handlebars are comfortable, and I really like the shifting levers (since this type is new to me, it's pretty fun too).
I keep a chain lock locked onto the bike at all times and if I am planning on more than a quick 10 minute stop I bring my U lock and maybe even an extra cable.
Although I am male, I did a bit of purely aesthetic customizing and I ride this bike proudly despite this being a women's bike. No one complains, and I get a great white/black design that I was unable to find anywhere else. Totally happy with this purchase.
For me, it was definitely more worthwhile buying a bike outside of those crappy department store types, getting it cheap, and all bundled together with the experience of learning and building.
Overall I really like this bike and think most people will too.
Good bike. Bad Wheels November 27, 2009 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Good bike, but the wheels are total junk. (what do you want for $400?) One 5-minute ride down the street and back and both wheels were so out of true that they were rubbing the brake pads. Another $50 invested in the wheels would do wonders for this package.
